Mr. Leutz leads many of the firm’s domain name and Internet-related
projects. He is the firm’s lead phishing and cyberfraud investigator,
and handles the drafting and filing of many of the Internet domain-name
disputes filed on behalf of clients. He is also extremely adept
in the areas of affiliate program policing, curtailing abusive “sponsored-link”
keyword advertising occurring on the major Internet search engines
and virtual asset reclamation. Jerl also oversees the management
of domain-name portfolios belonging to several companies, ranging
from high-profile IT companies to new startups.
Jerl earned his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles,
California. While at Loyola, Mr. Leutz centered his curricula around
Intellectual Property-related disciplines, with a particular focus
on cyberlaw, the Internet, and the emerging legal challenges associated
with the current convergence of entertainment and information technology.
During law school, Jerl gained experience at RKO Pictures, assisting
in legal projects involving RKO’s vast intellectual property library.
He also served as an assistant to the attorneys at the legal department
at Adelphia Communications.
Mr. Leutz also handles matters for the firm’s biotech-related clientele.
Jerl’s undergraduate work was done at the University of Southern
California, where he earned a bachelors’ degree in Biological Science,
supplemented with valuable business expertise from his dual minors
in Biotechnology and Business Administration. He is well-versed
in all of the physical sciences, especially Biology, Chemistry and
Physics.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Jerl co-founded a successful
video entertainment venture specializing in the custom construction
and sale of PC-gaming consoles and rendering farms for 3-D computer
animators.
Mr. Leutz is also bilingual, possessing a near-fluency in the
Spanish language.
